Good morning, it's nice to find your board. I am the owner of Special Little Smiles - Index I am desperate to move my board over to Vbulletin. I can afford the license, due to donations, but not the license and the 135 dollar fee that they want to transfer it from Simple Machines to Vbulletin. I was looking around this morning, trying to find someone who could do that for me, as I know NOTHING about things like this. I am just a person running a board for families of special needs children. I hope to find out much from your forum, and I thank you for letting me join. I also want to be a part of this board, so that when I do have it switched, then I can have support and people who can answer my questions.

First off, welcome to vbsetup.

As for SMF to vB, its not as hard to do as you might think. I know you could do it on your own if you threw yourself in there to do it. You'll need to get Impex (the program the converts to vB) and then you can read the instructions that come with it. It makes it VERY simple.

The one problem you will have is that your passwords from SMF will not transfer over, but just send your members all a message saying when you switch, that they MUST reset their passwords to something else when they first log-in to the new vB forum.

Indeed Impex is pretty easy to use. And you don't loose your old forum. Just install vb, try to import and see the result. If it went wrong, delete all and start over. Once sure how to do, just delete the forum again, start from fresh and add all hacks and modifications you want, and when you're ready, close old, import and switch. Don't forget to close old forum when importing for real. You might loose some posts ....
