Thanks for the warm welcome Brandon
I'm going to be hosting with SiteGround I think and they said they can convert my InvisionFree SQL dump to VB for about £30 which seems quite reasonable to me.
I've got a site to go with my current forum and it's about specialist physics and mathematics first and foremost. The thing is that I'm also into street dancing, human beatbox, skateboarding, Riverdance, techno music etc so I'm looking to build a community to discuss all these things.
It's going ok so far and I don't have enough members (18 registered) to warrant an upgrade. My current (non-forum) site is all text so there's little room for beatboxing among physics essays and I'm planning to convert the whole lot into a VB site.
My main concern with moving my site's URL is my Google rank. Currently I'm number 1 for my chosen terms, and I also have results 3, 4, and 6 on the first page, result 3 is one of my YouTube videos which is where I advertise my forum mostly.
I want to change my whole operation to a VB SEO site and include a few new search terms (key physics theories I'm writing about) but I'm worried that I'll lose my Google rank somehow if I forward my DNS to my new site and don't have my page that's number 1 up on the web any more.
I've got a few options but before I go into too much detail please may I ask if it's ok to talk in this thread or if you would prefer me to post in another.
Thanks.
