Re: New and Confused simplify the picture so that the goal is smaller such as the install only. Once you have an install, you can play with more things. So you need to buy vbulletin. Get hosting. Get an ftp program. Get a good text editor such as editplus, or edit++. There are many otheres, but look for one with php syntax highlighting and html highlighting. Look for search and replace and stuff like that as features. Setup up a database on the hosting. Edit the vBulletin config.php. Upload the vBulletin files. Run the install. It's quite a bit if you don't have html, editing, and ftp experience or don't understand how databases work with an application. But all the steps above you could be walked through if you are computer savvy. Or, you can hire someone to install it for you after you get hosting and just explore all the steps seeing how it was done to gain experience. Good luck. Be careful. It's addicting.

Re: New and Confused I've got the hosting part down- and I think the Jelsoft CSR's know me personally- I had an extended demo- one of the CSR's referred me here actually. I thought the forum thing would be a cake walk but I am finding out differently....... Quote |

Re: New and Confused So you've got your hosting setup then? Next step is to buy vBulletin, and install it. Installation is pretty simple, if you have a couple areas you're not sure about just ask. Most of the stuff is setup for you when you go to install it anyways. Let us know exactly where you are in the process and we'll gladly help out Quote |

Re: New and Confused Don't worry, its all pretty easy. Just don't be in a hurry to launch the forum after getting the license, just play with it for a while and once you get a hang of it, launch it for public.
