The few things you can re in open forums won't push me to push the button right now,
maybe on homepage in some kinda scrolling thing ad a few good inside parts (partly) ...
Niche forums mostly work well, but don't put the entrance level to high. |
Thanks for replying Eric!
The high post count is from an RSS Feed I setup to get business and tech news. It posts as a user. I have it set to not show the forum in the new post count. Any idea how to make it leave it out post count in general?
I think you hit the nail on the head, I am after a Niche Market, and this thing is a business, not a hobby. It needs to not only cover it's costs (including my time to run it), but build to a decent profit too. I think I have a good target market, just need to get the right balance of promotion, content, etc.
For the serious business person, $99 ( $8.95 / Month (the cost of a reasonable lunch) is nothing, provided that the benefit to them is there. There will be many resources, exclusive content enough to be of value to the business person.
While I am new to vBulletin, I'm not new to moderating and running forums/groups. I know that a few idiots can screw things up for everyone and can even kill a group. That is something I will absolutely not tolerate on the forum and problems will be dealt with swiftly. Business people are going to want a professional environment, and that will be provided. The $99 / year will keep the bored forum surfing trolls out.
Again, thanks for your feedback. I'm sure it will take some time and adjusting to find the right balance to get it off the ground, but I'm determined and I believe I have the right skills, knowledge and experience in all the right areas between myself and my partner to make it work.
