| Adsense not doing well So, I have a forum and well making money has been hard lately. Few months ago, I wouldn't get that many clicks and I could make $250 a month. Now, I get around the same amount (little less) of clicks and I am lucky to reach $50 a month There is an issue here and I want to start to get private advertisers but I am not such how to go about it. |

I even applied for Tribal Fusion, but I don't want to clutter my forum with ads. I have quite a few, but that's it. It wasn't that I rely on adsense to put it all in one basket, I just am ignorant (for a lack of a better word) and don't know which ad networks to go to. |

| Re: Adsense not doing well I use Google Adsense, and Linkworth Text Ads that can be placed on CMPS landing pages in in the site footer. I have 2 primary forums, one does well with the Linkworth and the other does better with the Adsense. I am looking for a third option since I'd like to sell the leaderboard at the top of one of my sites where the Adsense Leaderboard does nothing. BuySell was recommended to me by a friend this morning who does very well in the affiliate marking area but I have not tried their service yet.

| Re: Adsense not doing well This is split across two threads for me but the forum with the Linkworth ads does great with the linkworth, or at least better than adsense ever did. If the Google Adsense is not working out for you, I think Linkworth a great program to try and see if you get something to generate more revenue from the site. So, if adsense isn't working out, what's the harm in giving that program a try?

| Re: Adsense not doing well I have 3 different kinds of ads that get requested. On the home page there is a box that sells for X dollars and that gets a static link for the month in the box near the bottom right of the cmps boxes. For more bucks you have can a static link in the footer, or a rotating link in the footer. You set the price for the links. The code for the rotating is easy to setup, it's a separate file include in your vB template. The publishers can choose to continue and renew the link or cancel the link at the end of the month. Most renew the link. There are other things you can do such as dedicated ad pages, buying keywords in the site, etc that I don't get into. It's a 70/30 split. You get 70%, Linkworth gets 30%, and they payout to PayPal. It's a nice system. All you need to do is copy/paste the link into your templates when they buy a link to be placed on your site. Linkworth does the work, takes a cut, and you get some monthly recurring paypal bucks to spend on vB licenses , renewals, beer, whatever.

| Re: Adsense not doing well I read about Text Link Ads and I heard they ruin sites. Actually a friend of mine had his site at a PR-4 and with text links went down to a PR-0. Text-Link-Ads is finished | Chris Guthrie
I think I am going to set up for private advertisers and just post on different marketplace forums that I have ad space available. |

| Re: Adsense not doing well Holy smokes, you're right. The forum with the text links went from PR3 to PR0. Not that it matters. It still gets the most guest traffic ever and the text links make far more than the adsense ever did. Does PR really matter? In this case I say no.

-Raymond | I think that's a good question in itself. Does PR really matter? I think that should be discussed in another thread. There can be a lot of good arguments made for both sides. |

| Re: Adsense not doing well That drop from PR3 to PR0 must have been fairly recent. I usually keep an eye on such things. I have to provide an honest update here. Things have been going well since March, but about 1/3 of the paid links did not renew with the change of month this weekend. I have a box full of cancel links this morning that I have to leave up until September. It will probably be some time until the cycle of links canceling -> gone -> eventually get google love back corrects itself. I'd probably do the cycle again since the adsense pennies are not worth it.

| Re: Adsense not doing well ok so you all know, im kinda shady
well when the Pswayze news dropped, i yanked my cute like 468x60's out of the guests header and placed 2 big squares there for the traffic rush....
it did crappy, and i was confused!
yesterday i went 5k+ impressions, 30+ clicks, for less then $3 BOOOOOOOO
today, to my surprise (i still have the big squares) i am already at 1400+ impressions, 15+ clicks, for over $8 hmmmmmm
how does that work? i hate the mysteries of adsense
(i gave +'s etc cause i know you are not suppose to post exact adsense figures VIA the TOS) |

| Re: Adsense not doing well After much research and trying things, I can honestly say the secret to adsense is your referring traffic. You get pretty much nothing for clicks that come from direct traffic to your site. But clicks that come to your site from somewhere else and then click, you get nice chunks of change. This is just something I have noticed throughout my hassles with adsense. I have no idea why, but it has held true with couple tests here and there. It seems they consider your direct traffic as crap. Go figure. |

| Re: Adsense not doing well @Chase,
What ads where being shown?
unless they where about his death, or his movies, people aren't going to click them.
All that rush and no clicks is going to do, is drive down your CPM
When something like that happens, it's best to get ads that pay per impression, not by clickthrough.
plus those to ads stick out like a sore thumb!
I would match the background to that areas background

Any ideas about the adsense on EO? They are hardly noticeable. One in the header. Then one in the first post for guests. We are open to suggestions |

| Re: Adsense not doing well i didn't think it was against the TOS. I thought it was recommended by adsense to blend your ads, as long asyou dont try to make them look like content EG: putting then in the middle of text. https://www.google.com/adsense/suppo...y?answer=17957 |
