Anyone using Open Ads (formerly PhpAdsNew)?

everyone,

As my forum gets more and more active, I'm always looking for ways to better monetize it. Many of my members are from Canada and Great Britain (for reasons I'm not away of) and therefore I like the idea of using geotargeted affiliate ads.

Anyway, I was just curious if anyone was using Open Ads successfully.

I use OpenAds on all my forums and websites. I have been using it for a little over 2 years and have never had a problem with it. I run both affiliate and Adsense ads.

I finally broke down and installed 2.4 and got familiar with it. I was able to finally understand it using how tos from the forums and the docs.

I tried phpadsnew a long time ago, got confused, got distracted and said it was too complicated. I even looked at other ideas.

Anyway, I set it up on it's own domain and dove in. Once you get it, you get it. But it's not too hard with the how to. If something is wrong, delete everything and try again. It took me a couple of tries to title each aspect of setting up things to make sense, but I got it finally.

I plan on implementing it in production in the very near future.

Give it a go live. It will work out. There seems to be great support and docs to back you up.

I just took a look at the open ads website. How much money are you making with the program?

OpenAds isn't a program. It's a script that allows you to manage advertising.

From my understanding (which may be wrong), it allows geotargetted ads, allows you to track # of impressions of a given banners so you can charge by the impression, and will expire an ad after X amount of transactions.

There is probably a lot more to it.

I was looking at it, and it looks very powerful but I settled for vb ad management since my site is a forum only and it offers everything I need to keep track of my advertisements and locations.

I have started using phpadsnew from this month on my webmaster blog and travel directory, so far I am quite happy with it. Though I am not quite sure how one would display adsense and other javascript based ads through it.

I've been using phpAdsNew for years (since 2001), I haven't updated to OpenAds yet, but I will... I will put it in it's own account (own domain) because I run the ads across multiple sites and servers... the interface or navigation was not intuitive for me for a long time, but after about 30 minutes of clicking around I finally got it. I hope the OpenAds team has gotten together and improved things a lot :-)
