Do you Make Money Online with Forums

I didn't start vBulletinSetup to make money with my forums, I started it to help fellow forum owner make the most of their boards.
I've since opened up a businesses and offer online services. You can find a link on the forumhome page if you want to check it out.

In a good month I'll make around $40 online from google adsense and $700-$1300 from client work.. It just depends on how much free time I have to work.

I don't really want to build an online site just for adsense, but I might work on a few facebook apps and add my google code into them

Anyways, Just wanted to start a little discussion about how well some of us are doing with our forums and maybe some suggestions to help the others that are struggling

After a year of running my forum Im finally making like 20-25 a month. Hopefully it goes up because the way it looks Ill need to upgrade my hosting plan to one thats much more expensive.

Do you think there are niche's that are just hard to gain a profit ?
I don't see why any topic wouldn't be impossible to monetize.

ps.. I'm not saying I know how, just that anything should be possible.

My forum is based on trailriding and i have a link to my oscommerce site to sell spare parts, and thats basically my living.
seeing i love it, its not really like working

i have a forum on my board called
Dirt Bike Stuff

and people buy parts from there

forums are notoriously low earners in general and if you increase the content nature of your forums you will also increase your ability from the users looking for info.
I am not a big fan of forums per say but realise they have their use if utilised in the correct manner as a service and area to discuss info provided.
Don't know why I went off on this tangent but then again it comes from owning forums
