Does a fast loading page leads to a better CTR?

Earlier this month I added couple of external scripts to the footer of my forum and due to them the loading time of my forum increased some what, to the point that the page is fully loaded sign use to come up after 20-30 seconds of the page being displayed (hope I am making sense).

Along side this; I witnessed a slight drop in CTR as well as CPC of Adsense ads. Then couple of days back I removed those scripts and to my surprise the CTR as well as CPC jumped quite a bit (yesterday and today).

Has any one else observed this kind CTR improvement due to faster page load time?

Absolutely! I leave sites that don't load after a few seconds. I go nuts and hit the logs if my own sites do that now too. It's amazing how bad a server can run and still deliver a website.

So yeah, stay on top of load time.

20-30 seconds? That is far far too long. I too will leave a website that takes too long to load. It says some things about the website...slow server, overloaded server, increased risk of reset connection & lost content, etc. Even if that isn't the case, you'll never see Google take more than 2 seconds to load. Speed reinforces quality in people's minds.

I'd remove the java if I where you. I agree 20-30 sec is way to long. I think 5-10 secs is way to long actually..

Well I am located in India and on a 256kb connection, but yeah the delay was killing people’s interest it seems. In any case they are off for good, now the only java script is from adsense and analytic.

this is where vBMicrostats is useful...
