I have used both in about a 4 month time frame and have decided who I am going to stick with today.

I decided to stick with Vibrant Media's IntelliTXT for a couple of reasons. One their ad targeting is so much better. With Kontera I was having to manually go into the templates and add tags to exclude parts of my forum from showing their text ads such as the Navbar and even in the postbit it was highlighting peoples cities. With IntelliTXT it is smart enough to target only the actual thread posts. In the end Kontera was serving more text ads to my visitors but the result was not enough to warrant the slightly better payout.

The second big thing is the way that you get paid. Kontera does not offer EFT but IntelliTXT does. IntelliTXT also has a lower payout amount of $50 dollars compared to Kontera's $100 minimum payout.

So I decided today the small extra income was not worth turning down the convenience that IntelliTXT offers.

Have you tried linkworth's new contextual advertising?

No I am not a fan of Linkworth. Lots of people have had problems with them including me. There is a big thread about it on Big Board Admin Community where they have caused you to basically give someone free advertisement on your site due to the advertiser disputing payment with Linkworth. I had it happen twice so I dropped them.

Intersting. Been dealing with them for a long time, never had a problem. Will check that out though.

You mention in your Monetizing vBulletin Forums thread that Intellitxt & Kontera pay via CPM. I've been interested in those networks for a while and will likely be applying to one or both soon.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to work via CPM with those networks? On their websites I see CPC mentioned but nothing about CPM based earnings.

IntelliTXT pays by either CPC or CPM. Kontera only pays by CPM as far as I know.

Thanks for that link. NBF mentioned being offered mid $XX.XX CPM by IntelliTXT. That almost sounds too good to be true. Even $X.XX CPM for forums sounds surprising, although I am VERY glad to see these kinds of rates.

Do you know if Google permits Adsense units to be displayed on the same pages as IntelliTXT & Kontera?

They told me no. So I switched to YPN. However, apparently if your site is big enough they will allow it.

Just an update. It seems Google Adsense's latest TOS changes now allow for IntelliTXT and Kontera to be used on the same page as Adsense.

Do they have any advertisers besides microsoft? Seems like the Microsoft search engine is the only thing that advertises on my sites.
