i do not have any ads, etc. on my forum so this is all very new to me.

is this possible? to only have ads placed on your forum directory page that is visible to Guests/unlogged-in members only? so once they log in, the ads go away?

if so,

1. where do i even start
2. how do i do this?
3. what companies do you recommend?

Yep very much possible. You do it via Template Conditionals.

To only show code to guests:
This will show only the code inside the conditional to guests.

As far as companies go this is a List of ways to Monetize your vBulletin Forum.

so this code would go in the header or navbar?

also, you have seen my forum, do you think i am better off with google or YPN?

I'd go with Google. Travel Ads pay very well with google. I'd put a 728x90 google ad below your navbar.
