Your Forum's Revenue

It may sound a bit rude, but how much money is your forum making? What program are you using? (Adsense, etc) Which spots on your site get the most clicks/revenue? Also include a brief summary of your traffic so we know how big your site is

Re: Your Forum's Revenue

I don't have a site open right now.. But I have always found the best mix is using Adsense and Adbrite. They work well and are both customizable to the forums...Also getting sponsors is good to pay cost if your getting enough hits...The most I ever made a month off of a forum was about 800 bux..But that was with steady sponsors. And we were getting about 10K uniques a day. It had about 30K members. But ive made close to 500 bux on smaller forums with like 5 to 10k members.. It just depends on your forum and the subject matter..Though advertisers love stats... So if you wanna start making ad money I would suggest keeping detailed stats to show as proof..Maybe awstats...I always liked their layout.

Though as always just my opinion...But if your subject pertains to local business..You can easily find someone to talk into sponsoring you for 100 or so bux a month..They just write it off when comes tax time...Just have to get out and talk to people and hustle

Also..dont forget about extending some type of service to your members and have donation buttons...Are the best way I have always found are card draws...You raffle soemthing off costs you maybe 100 dollars pertaining to your forum..And then sell 52 cards at maybe 10 bux each...thats 520 bux - 100 for item 420 dollars to pay for hosting and such..Just have to be creative.. But raffles are great too

How much does adbrite pay out? Is it CPM or CPC? How are their ads? I've heard some of them are really annoying (like those lame smiley banners and "CLICK HERE" type banners)

I never had any problems with them...Though I always found it best to make ads only visible by guests and maybe leave Google ad sense visible under the navbar or something...But they allow you change up your ads..You can use text ads if want if don't like their banners and they give you the ability to approve and reject the ads you don't want. As for how they pay out I think its per impressions on some ads and then poth on the bigger banner ones

But if you dont want to deal with all that I would suggest some sponsors. I mean most sites that arent big its all about content viewable by guests..So if your gonna advertise..You wanna advertise towards the guest and when people login the ads go away...It kills to birds with one stone..But sponsors are easy to get if you talk to people..Like I said use the tax write off angle..Business owners love hearing those words..Tax write offs....

But if need help with anything hit me up in pm...I have been out of the vbulletin world for awhile due to college..But school is dying down so im coming back...

Re: Your Forum's Revenue

hmmm - about $200 monthly with Google Adsense - I run a couple other campaigns via Link Share - but thus far only made $30 using the bidz.com promotional. I've recently put up our advertising page at Poetry in Color Forum - Advertise With Poetry in Color Forum!. So far I haven't sought out any private advertisers - but hopefully will do so in the coming months to bring a little extra revenue to the site.

Re: Your Forum's Revenue

My site is 100% ad and banner free. We are member supported through paid VIP memberships. Memberships are $5 a month - so its easy to afford. Its cheaper to get a 30 day VIP membership on my site then go get a cheeseburger.

My site brings in about 3 - 4X the hosting fee, so say about $150 - $200 a month. Then add to that amazon sales commissions, and adsense revenue through my youtube videos that help promote the site. So in all, say around $200 - $300 monthly.

adsense, TLA, ZTMC link ads, and paid subscriptions. 250k page views a month, about $300 a month, just on TalkDelaware.
