Do you promote via other forums?

I use to do this alot but it seems more and more forums aren't allowing promotion of other forums in your sigs..

I do where I can get away with it without coming across as spamming. I place them in signatures on sites that allow it and such.

Gotta do what you gotta do to get the word across.

I would much rather let people get their self-promotion out in the form of a signature (which is much easily controlled, bbcode is disabled, small font, 4-5 lines max, etc) than by spamming all over the place within posts, where real content is affected.

There you go. Exactly how I feel. I hate it when people censor other sites. Especially competitors

I allow people to post links in signatures, no problem with that.

as for me, I do it on forums that I post regularly at. I don't make a habit of joining forums to promote my site.

IMO you will gain more if you are a contributor to the site you join than if you just join for the purpose of promoting your site via your signature. People come to respect you more and you gain trust.

i also disallowed it on my forum to place signatures with links in them

the reason i did was because i noticed this guy with a HUGE ASS banner in the signature linked to his forum

and he started replying every other thread with rubbish really (trolling)

and it just got annoying

also please note that if you want to advertize your site on other sites..the best way is to participate and be a PRODUCTIVE member. Cos honestly no one likes spammers. But when u prove urelf useful on a site they will gladly visit your site

Report so far...

Right, I've had this hack on live board all day and have had me and a couple other people posting test things to it without issue except a small thing that I don't know if it's because this was an upgrade from the old hack or not...

Basically, if you have a look at:
http://www.mumsonline.net/forums/pad-thai-t26694.html (or attached file)

You can see the numbering is a bit screwed up... Like it's trying to put several numbers in the same field.

I've tried to replicate this on the test forums but no matter how many items I put, it doesn't "break" so I'm assuming that the issue has to do with the upgrade.

Other than that, I'm fairly confident that this could be released to vB org as public beta if not final...

Now that it seems to be working properly, I'm gonna start populating the mod... So, don't go abandoning it! ;)

Re: Report so far...

ok, well try to repost the exact same recipe on this website and see if it gives the same error please.

Also, this will not be released into the public. This is going to be a paid modification. You beta testers will get the first year for free, and we will work from their.

The next thing I need you to do is to please try and tell me some good feedback. Looking at other mods and price what is good, and reasonable for the buyer. How much you would charge, and even possible new implements into the system.

Looking forward to feedback
