The Yahoo! Header gets an update
Offline Advertising

Has anyone tried promoting their forum in the free news papers?

I'm strongly considering advertising in the local penny saver.

It's $66 for the region, and something liker $475 across the state for 4 weeks.

Maybe it makes a little more sense for me being a regional forum.

What do you think? Any better ideas? I'm willing to pay to give the forum an honest chance.

Arm twisting community members into posting
Re: Offline Advertising

The offline advertisement that I do is mainly by putting a sticker of my site on my motorcycle and by giving out visiting cards.

LMK how you do with the paper thing Ray. I thought about that before

i give out biz cards, put out bookmarks at the library, write on everything i can that has a pen attached...lol. in general talk about it when im around people who surf the net a lot. and i have stickers on my cars. also have shirts and hoodies that i wear and we do lots in the community. we did a plane pull to benefit special olympics DE, and we also adopted-a-highway to clean in my area 3 times a year which gets us a sign with the site name on it at each end of the road....

Re: Offline Advertising

I thought about business cards (vistprint or another cheap alternative) before.

Where do you get yours and what do you put on it....need some examples?

Chase, great exposure there for your site! Great job on your promoting techniques. I might have to adopt a couple of those myself.

Awesome...can't wait to see 'em!

Anyone else use printed or 'offline' advertising to boost their numbers?

Re: Offline Advertising

Very cool.

In my case, unless I change the name of my site, I would assume that it would be tough for me to make up stickers or print flyers, etc....without causing some copyright issues with the Walt Disney company. Hmm...gotta think about this.

Re: Offline Advertising

One bit of offline advertising that has been working for me is offering members free logo buttons personalized with their forum username. They've taken to wearing them to meet-ups and conventions. They get a wearable conversation starter while I get free advertising.
