Promoting on YouTube and MySpace

Have you ever thought of promoting on YouTube and MySpace by creating attractive videos and having your site's link watermark through out the video. This is a great way to get fast traffic for absolutely free especially if your videos are catchy and get lots of hits!

I have heard many success stories who used this technique!

What do you guys think of this? Would it work for your forum?

Re: Promoting on YouTube and MySpace

One of my members made a YouTube for my New York Chat site when it was starting up. It's nice, and I applaud the effort (thank you!), but to be honest, I have never noticed any YouTube referrals in my web statistics. I suppose the type of web site will have an impact. The state sites by design probably sound boring to people until they take a look and see all of the fun people on them.

PS: I wasn't expecting that to embed in the middle of my comments. Video below.

Maybe if you use some video authoring software and add a clickable banner at the bottom of the video..Then I would think yeah you might get couple hits from them..I think you can do that with something like Sony Vegas......I used to do alot of av stuff with that and there was another one..but forget the name.....But I know its doable... I think as long as it clickable they would be more apt to click and checkout....then something they have to manually type in.. People want to be lazy on the internet.. Always member the 8 second rule.....You have on average 8 seconds to grabs someones attention to make them stay at your site.. If you dont do it in first 8 seconds.. Odds are they wont hang around...I have always believed firmly in that 8 second rule

To be honest popowich, the video doesn't seem to be interesting at all. I mean your forum is great, but the video itself is boring and waste of time to watch. People want to see some funny, entertaining, unique videos. Maybe talk about anything great going on in NY, and in your videos mention your forum and tell them what your forum is about rather then creating a video that just shows preview of a website.

Just keep creating videos where people can see you talking about anything that your forum consists of. Discuss about things that most people would disagree with, and create drama!

You can even make a YouTube video contest, where your members can create videos about what the forum consists of, and require them to mention your forum link and description of it. Video with the most views gets some prize.. That way you get tons of videos and hopefully few of them can get many views and send you the traffic.

Since you asked - YouTube - survivalistboards's Channel

My videos have had over 1,054,000 views, I have 253 videos on youtube. 2 are not mine, so its really 251 videos. And I have 1,769 subscribers.

A current poll on my site shows a 2:1 ratio with youtube having the higher referral rate then google. In other words, 2X the number of people found my site through youtube as compared to google.

Camping with my kids:
Filmed and uploaded last weekend.

I do need a better video camera.
