| Is Cuil the next Google? Cuil is a new search engine developed by former Google employees, and claims to index 3x more pages than Google. CNN Money story has the basics. I don't think they're ready for primetime, as my search returned no results! Cuil

| Re: Is Cuil the next Google? HA, we were talking about cuil here on TD. I don't think it's the next google, i think it's a joke myself.....but you never know i guess...
This post expresses my thoughts.... Quote:
i use google, a lot, only cause its the best, i am not a fan boy for google, in fact google kinda pisses me off cause they give TD no love VIA google "pagerank"
this is what gets me about cuil though
from their page: Quote: |
The Internet has grown exponentially in the last fifteen years but search engines have not kept up—until now. Cuil searches more pages on the Web than anyone else—three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft.
| AMAZING! well, i may not be the sharpest knife but lets see...
cuil delaware and google delaware
cuil - 27,200,000 results for delaware
google - 160,000,000 for delaware
food?
cuil - 288,400,000 results for food
google - 1,070,000,000 for food
that is impossible!!! how can that be true?they are blowing smoke, period.
pages are slow loading caused by a huge hit today as i guess they sent out press releases and didnt figure every person on the net to hit their site today....duh.
i haven't really looked at it yet, but im sure they will push the "our main screen is black and google is white, this save XX% more power when viewing on your monitor that will save the earth"
more smoke....
wannna cool new search engine?

| Re: Is Cuil the next Google? I guess it will take time for their spiders/bots to crawl the web efficiently.
I couldn't find a feature to add a url so that it would crawl your site, instead you had to send an email. Not the best method but probably all teething problems at the moment.
You can never tell if something's going to be massive at the start...

| Re: Is Cuil the next Google? Search results make no sense, and seem to have a ton of influence via the domain name from what I see.
The magazine layout thing doesn't work well for results in my opinion either.

| Re: Is Cuil the next Google? actually the best part is the side nav tabs.
But other than that, the results suffer the same problem as most of the google wannabe's suffer from, they are not good enough
