"directory submitter" software - any good?

I ran across this and am wondering what you think:
Internet Marketing Wish List | Directory Submitter » Directory Submitter

I've heard warnings against auto-submissions, link farms, etc, etc. So would this get you in trouble with the search engines and lead to penalties? Or what?

I've tried a few, not that one.

I like this program

Internet Business Pages I use it for several url's.

This is another one I've tried
digiXMAS SEO Tools

I didn't really care for it, but it submits to some.

I also tried a place where I paid like 25$ and their team manually submitted my site to 500 directories.

Is it really worth paying for directory submissions though? Usually they submit to crap directories, but I guess any inbound links are good.

Well, I don't think it hurts but I do see your point. I know when I started one directory. I paid 30-40$ on a service that would submit to 250 directories and I wouldn't do it again for That price, but at the time I was happy. I was getting emails months from that date telling me my site had been approved.
Getting tons of small links will help you in the long run. Getting a few Great links, will show a noticeable change in a short period of time.

Actually that digiXMAS program is quite good, submitted my site to 100 odd sites in no time at all (had to choose the categories of each and enter codes)

yup, it's not bad at all. and for 10$ ( at least last time I looked ) you get access to 300 some directories of all PR levels.

I've certainly paid more for less..lmao

I paid one of those services to do 150 or so dir subs for me a while back.

Did it on about 50 domains as a large test.

Results were: expect about 20 inbounds/150 submissions.

Did it help with SEO?

Definitely w/MSN (got a few #1s)..not so much with other
Engines..

Overall, this will yet your site spidered but not necessarily indexed...my 2cents.

I figure that the directories aren't very high in PR, but MSN and yahoo don't care about PR, so hopefully they help with those.
