you don't need to edit your postbit at all.. The only templates I would edit would be your showthread and forumdisplay..
| I was just helping the request: Quote:
It's just that zone I want to nail with h1 tags.
You see, the page gets titled with the first posts title. That is then also in the keywords automatically. Now if down the thread more and different titles were dropped that'd give more weight to google.
| Though in my opinion, the navbar is the best place to add your h1 tags. Quote: |
MaestroX, when i look at your sites coding it's so clean and so much less of it than mine ... what you got going on with that/how?
| I'm not sure what you mean. The clean coding may just be my use of CSS rather than hard coding everthing. | | | Join Date: Mar 2007 | Posts: 78 | Re: h1 and h2 tags, how to? You could have always checked out my thread ;) SEO Template Edits and Relevant Replacements using vBSEO
h1, h2, and h3 tags are set up, you just have to either upload the TMS file or go through all the edits manually...I'd suggest the TMS route. Not only does it help with your h tags, but my TMS file goes through and does many other edits to help your content to code ratio. I'm surprised no one has tried this yet I have it working on my 2 sites though, so you can see what it looks like as a guest when you go there.

Now no offence to anybody but I have a headache.
I'll attach a picture of what I'd like. I have VbSEO and about 30 seconds of experience with it.
I am a tree bloke, not a PC guy, so please I need simple explicit instructions or an offer for doing it for me. That RR stuff is clear as mud.
Think of it like this, I bought a great car however for the race it needs fine tuning.
I have then purchased a bunch of hotted up parts and accessories, however I am the driver not the mechanic. I know what I need to win the race as I know who is in the race competing against me and what advantages they have. I need more grip on those bends, more down force on the rear tyres, more top speed down the straight, and tighter RH suspension as the circuit is predominantly LH turns. Oh, and for every minute int he pits I lose postion on the track.
Please, I need some help here. I read what you say go to your sites and sift through the coding and dont see what I want, the way I want it, this adds to confusion.
The change I want is to have h1 tags for post titles and thread titles ... if a thread is 39 posts long and 4 posts down that post gets titled let that title be h1 tagged.
Some clarification is required on the very first post of a thread as they carry <em> tags not <strong> so Vbulletin default software is treating them different ... and that's beyond my capabilities of understanding why or how, so that has to be considered too.
I know this is possible but I dont know how.
Help appreciated. | | | Join Date: Mar 2007 | Posts: 78 | Re: h1 and h2 tags, how to? I'd like to help look for it, but the information you are looking for should be in the SHOWTHREAD template. I hope that helps :S
Though I suggest checking out the post that I posted above you. It sounds like you are fixated on the reply post title, but I really think that if you use RR's with h tags, you might be better off. And with appropriate settings in the ACP, you could really increase your keyword density per post.

But if you would like them, that is located in the postbit and postbit_legacy templates.

Great, would you or anyone else here like to volunteer to go into my forum etc and do it? If you need $'s PM me and tell me how much.
Brandon, would you perhaps like to set up the google advertising the way you have it with this forum, tags surrounding titles and content? PM me with $'s if you need them.
