Homepages. VBAdvanced? or Wordpress for SEO?

Just out of curiosity and not sure if this has been covered before. Regarding a home page for a forum, what would be better for SEO all around? VbAdvanced CMS or using a blogging system like Wordpress?

All the same in my book, it all really matters what content is on it.

Remember that vBAdvanced only takes content that you already have in the forums, if you wanted to make content outside of the forum just for the home page you can use a WordPress blog.

If you are running a portal then using wordpress or another CMS or even static HTML home page would be best. However if it is only a forum, then it is best to use vBAdvanced

Used both and ended with vbadvanced. If you want extra content a blog is easier since you don't have to post in forum. If it is to have a nicer front with modules you can shuffle to your readers need... vbadvacned

My personal opionion is Vbad is better and you can always make regular html pages if you need to and link them. Plus, vbad owns!

I could swear that the most recent version of VbAdvanced allows you to create content without requiring that it is posted in a forum. I haven't tinkered with it in a few months, so I could be off base. In any case, if you can't create independent content, all you really need to do is create a content forum and keep it hidden. That way you have a place for creating content and it won't be repeated on your boards.

I thought repeating buzz words was important for a SEO. Why wouldn't you want to repeat content and threads like vbadvance does?

I read an article a while back posted by someone who worked with Google, and he mentioned that repetition can actually harm your standing with Google (and other engines). You have to be careful how you use keywords, otherwise the Google spiders call it spam. Brandon has a thread that mentions repetition. There is some art form in making sure certain "buzz" words are thoroughly spread throughout your site without the spiders recording it as spammed keywording. I may be interpreting it wrong, but I'm sure Brandon, or one of his cohorts, can offer some technical insight.

Repeating buzz words is good, however repeating the same content all over the site is termed as duplicate content and is actually bad for SEO.
