be carefull with this kind of stuff. If you have many pages indexed, means each url changes and search engines has to start over. Vbseo does use redirects if I'm correct to not loose ranking but for example Zoints doesn't
plus if you ever don't want or can renew vbseo license....
for me it is once you start your stuck with the one you choose like marriage, divorce will be painful.
I'll use url-rewrite only when vb has it as standard feature (I use it for example on Gallery since they implement it)
Never know if a third party product will be discontinued ... what do you do then ... It happened to me in the past with non critical components but each time you have quite a lot of work to solve/change things.
And with url rewrite you loose all work with search engines if you change url structure.

I know this already. I am starting a new forum and wanted an inexpensive way to get url rewrite. I opted for Zoints. They DO have 301 redirect using .htaccess file.
Thanks for your time Brandon.
