| I can't get into DMOZ? I've submitted my site to DMOZ directory last year and still haven't been accepted into the directory. No word from them. I haven't submitted a second application because they say not to submit more than one on their website...
What's the deal? Is DMOZ still relevant? How dow I get into the darn directory!?

| Re: I can't get into DMOZ? If your site is not listed after suggesting it, then it means:
1. It was not good enough for a listing and was rejected
2. It has not yet been reviewed.
After submitting once, there is nothing more you can do; anything you do is counterproductive. The rule is - submit once; forget about it; move on; its not worth worrying about or even checking to see if listed - you either get listed eventually or you don't. Spend your time on something productive to promote the site.
(BTW: Most forums get rejected unless they have a lot of posts and a lot of activity; - the actual number of what is "a lot" is not really known, but will depend on the niche) |

| Re: I can't get into DMOZ? Those people are ridiculous. There are some horrible sites on there and they will not accept others. They're like wikipedia editors, they'll deny additions just if they haven't heard of you, you're new, etc. |

| Re: I can't get into DMOZ? It's worth the time to submit, but make sure you submit to the current category and your description and title is as good as it can get.
Submit once and forget it
Or find someone that works in the sections you're trying to submit, and see if they'll consider bumping your submission to review. |

| Re: I can't get into DMOZ? DMOZ is the worst directory on the net. The editors take bribes, and help their friends. They make sure to keep out sites that would be competition to those that they know. Its all about who you know with them. I know this for a fact because I have in the past paypaled editors to get submissions. I wont name names or sites, but I can tell you that its pretty much a sham. They do have some honest editors, but I think most of them are shady |

I'm not going to post examples because I'm not looking to get those submissions removed, but it does happen |

How can you be considered trustworthy of you do not back up the claims you make? That says a lot.
Have you not noticed that NO ONE produces any evidence of corruption when asked for it? If it is that bad, how come no one ever comes up with the goods. |

Think about it. Why would they? If they payed obviously they are not going to risk having their site removed from the directory. Thats just plain stupid. So the likely hood of anyone ever telling you who and when, gl with that. That would be a bad business move. Plus why are you acting so irate? Are you an editor? Did you have your site denied? You seem rather bitter. |

You can believe what you want about the editors, it does happen and those editors are removed from their positions when it does.
If people would mention the site listed, dmoz would look up who runs that section and they would find out who placed it and what sites where placed.

| Re: I can't get into DMOZ? If a competitor is the editor of your section than you have almost no chance of getting your site in. The good news is that you don't need DMOZ to succeed online. |

| Re: I can't get into DMOZ? It's a shame people have such a bad experience with DMOZ. Why don't you be proactive and signup as an editor?
DMOZ usually isn't just one link as other directories use the data feed, like alexa and google. |

| Re: I can't get into DMOZ? Yeah Dmoz is such a crock most of the time. And its pretty shady from my experiences. I dont even know if it helps your site that much opposed to putting in the time and effort of SEOing it correctly. But just submit it and forget it and maybe who knows.. |

DMOZ usually isn't just one link as other directories use the data feed, like alexa and google. | I actually applied to be an editor in my category and was amazed how quickly I got a response. It was only like a day before they rejected my application to be an editor.
They said my my grammar, spelling and overall English skills were not up to par. I reread my app and not a single error. WTF? |
