Keywords

How many keywords is to many on a page for a search engine to consider the page is playing tricks etc ....? For instance I know its not good to have "Appalachian Trail" mentioned 50 times on one page if that is what I want people to search. But how many is to many or too few?

Re: Keywords

Thats a tough one to answer.

Best way to Realistically look at it is Read through the pages, and if you feel it sounds fake/You're typing just to put in keywords it is too much.

As long as you don't spam words a bunch, you wont be sandboxed or anything, but it isn't worth potential members to get turned off by wordy messages that are obviously there for something other than content.

Re: Keywords

I'm wondering the samething. On my website/board i use the word Server alot but that's because my site/board is about gaming and we have 2 gameservers. I used keyword cloud in seochat.com and it shows that i used the word server 85 times through the whole site

Re: Keywords

My biggest concern is that in Brandon's blog, titled "Improve your search engine rankings"

He says in point #1 that your site could be excluded for too many keywords.

-----------
1. Select and use strong keywords. You’ll want your content to be rich with keywords, but don’t go overboard. If you use too many keywords search engines will pick up on it and your site won’t rise in the rankings. If you use too many keywords, your site could be excluded altogether.
------------

When I use these keywords I am writing them with the flow of my writing, and since my site is about the Appalachian Trail I tend to use that phrase alot. I will have to watch my use of it so not to use it to much.
