I would like to share the hacks and tweaks I am making to my board at www.mapforums.com.

Earlier in the week I installed NoHack!, yesterday I moved the css to files, and today I am removing the Powered by vBulletin and replacing it with "MapPoint".

What should I do next?

I think I have a more major problem with my site, I think it may be the banner ads. They are pulling from another server I have www.mp2kmag.com

You can see the logo and the 468x60 banner come up, and then it seems to hang... before it loads the rest of the site.

Is there an easy way to tell what is causing the delay in the page load?

I am wondering if it is the ads, maybe I can use an iframe or something so that it loads faster or doesn't hang up the rest of the site from loading?

well, if it were me, i would drop those ad's on the side just cuz it makes me scroll to view on smaller res screens

u drop the whole right sidebar of ads and your site will load faster ;)

the site looks like its pretty vanilla to me, it should be fast as it is.

OK, I will look into it.. the Host is awesome - AxisHost - they are small but very professional, I don't think it is them.

My guess was that it tries to load the banner and side 125x125 ad from another server.

I'll just remove the whole right side ads and see how that works. (I have a very wide screen laptop and that is how I normally view it, but I've visited my site - MapPoint from other computers and know what you're talking about.

However, by a loose contract I should still insert the 125x125 ad somewhere... the rest of the right side column I don't care about.

Have any suggestion where the 125x125 banner should go if I get rid of the right side column?

I'm not familiar at all with VBNews or VBAdvanced.

I do have a sister site The Magazine for MapPoint - MP2K Magazine where I could pull content from.. but they are really supposed to be complementary sites, not overlap, although they link to each other a lot.

both are free to use with vbulletin.

it's like how I have the wordpress blog on the root of this url.

I could just as easily use vbadvanced, or mary's vbnews and pull some info from the forums to this page.

but I like to blog for other reasons.

why I suggest the cms, is then you could add a side column and it wouldn't stretch your screen.
