Maximum character count for the URL

Hi, I did some SEO on one of the site, which made the URL seem a bit lengthy due to the key-words conversion.

i.e. Announcements: Community Adult CPR/First Aid Class Offered - CalPolyOnline.com

Is this too long and could give the search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) a second look at my site and possibility of putting a red flag?
A link would be helpful, thank you in advance.

about 128 chars is the lognest url you want for best restuls (including yourdomain.com)

that url looks good to me
