Why isn't google showing the meta description that I entered in the vB Admin panel?

It shows the text and image links that I have on side columns not the meta description.

Anyone know what is up with this?

How long ago did you update the meta description and also it would appear as if Google has grabbed a peice of code from the footer template for whatever reason to use lol

At one point google indexed the welcome messages guests see on my forum but when i had the welcome message turned into a image that fixed that issue in search engines. Think about making your welcome message for guests into a image. This thread here talks about this.

Do you also have the vbseo sitemap generator installed? If so how long ago did you install this? Perhaps google is talking a little longer to index or re-index your whole site.

@ snakeair - I will try that, I heard its also good for SEO purposes.

@ Brandon - The correct meta description shows when you search 'site:web-talks.com' but not 'web-talks.com'.

how old is the site and how long as it been getting indexed?

Changing your welcome headers to an image is a good idea but most likely won't fix this issue as its not the welcome header text thats the problem.

The site is now one and half months old, and got indexed weeks ago..

Give it a few updates, I know i've had that happen where it just displays some off the wall block of text for a while, but after a bit it all starts to work out

Google pulls text as a snippet from your page , you can't force it to use your description tag and it depends on the search terms which it makes bold in the search engine results is web-talks.com in your description tag ? Are these terms what you think most people will search for you on , if so you may want to add it to your description tag or experiment with the text on top of page until you get a reasonable result , there are spider emulation tools which you could run over your site and they will emulate google so you could move the text around until you got the desired result ..
