Proper way to build backlinks

One of the biggest mistakes I see administrators make is not knowing how to properly link to their site or content for better SEO results. Most of the time, when you share your link you simply type our the whole address including the http:// part. Well this is fine and will help build the ever important backlinks, but we want to pack some punch if we’re building them so we’re going to discuss the proper way of doing it. When you are sharing your site you’ve worked hard to build up off to your friends, and you may even have a nice fancy url thats easy to remember you may think its easier to simply use your address like http://www.seovb.com or http://seovb.com or some variation. The problem is that you aren’t adding anything relavent for visiting bots to know what your site is about. When you link to your site you want to use what is called “Anchor Text”. That is, the keywords used in the linked anchor text enhance the relevance of the linked page. While the relevance of the page containing the anchor text is also enhanced to some degree (because of relevant keywords appearing on that page), the real gainer is the target page URL. Use this knowledge to build the relevance of each page of your site, through optimized anchor text containing important keywords, relevant to the theme of such pages, from other pages of your site. Everyone knows what anchor text is, and if you don’t you see it every day. An example would be SEO vB rather then http://seovb.com. So when you’re out building your backlinks and sharing your site, remember to always add the anchor text to your pages. Especially valuable if you’re linking to a page inside your site, such as a post. You wouldn’t want to post some ugly URL that won’t make sense to people, rather post something with informative text that everyone loves and understands! |
