Redirect domain showing up in google

I didn't really know what title to put for this lol...

I have my main domain, then I registered a very similar domain and I've redirected it to my main domain, like if you go to Google you are redirected to google.com.

Well, pages from the redirect domain are showing up in google, only about 280+ but still, they're showing up. Obviously they have identical content to the main domain so how does this go against me with regards to the main domain? How can I prevent these pages being indexed?

Thanks

Ooo...I'm interested in this topic...I have several domains pointing to one and wondered how it would affect me.

What's in the .htaccess file on the old site, Glennybee? Maybe there's a mistake somewhere?

Re: Redirect domain showing up in google

I don't have an old and new site, it's always just been the one site.

But my url has a hyphen in it... digital-kaos.co.uk. So I registered digitalkaos.co.uk as well and redirected it to digital-kaos.co.uk. So there isn't really anything to configure for the digitalkaos.co.uk domain, or am I wrong?

Thanks Dave!

That redirect seems to have worked. Prior I had added the digitalkaos.co.uk domain to the whitelist so that people could log in after using it but now it totally redirects to the main domain which I think is what we want.

Thanks again.

It's a parked domain I have so that should work for you too.

i understand why you want to protect your domain, but does it really help for you to add them online and redirect them to your main site SEO wise?
