SEO questions on new project!

We recently acquired a poorly run forum

fordcustomsdotcom

This site is dedicated to general ford Car and Truck discussion and we believe has been around since 2002 / 2003.

The first ting we realized is the site has nothing to do with "Custom Fords" The URL is misleading.

We bought FordMotorForum.com and FordMotorFoums.com as well as a bunch of others.

Our new site is now http://www.FordMotorForum.com and the old fordcustomsdotcom will be redirected.

How should we proceed. Our first step will be to buy VBSEO.

Should we submit to search engine with this new URL?

Any advice appreciated.

Re: SEO questions on new project!

the very first thing you Need to do is fix the title tag "powered by vBulletin"

one you do that, I wouldn't worry to much about the search engines.

the old url has 15,000 pages indexed, and with it being redirected to the new site.. it'll get indexed pretty fast ( few days )

site:fordcustoms.com - Google Search
if you can get vbseo installed, you can 301 all those old url's to the new ones ;)

Great theme, Miner is just amazing

other then that, I would just try to make forum descriptions that are full of keywords but readable.

cheers and gl

George, Yes we should talk.

I'm going to be offering free advertising on FMF for the first 3-6 months in return for links, posts, etc.

That detail site looks great.

Thanks Brandon, I'll be in touch!

I must give credit where credit is due. Miner did our TrumpetMaster.com . He is fantastic. For this project we used a free skin by miner and graphics / skin tweaking by Caddyman! Caddyman was a pleasure to work with and the graphics speak for the work he does! Great stuff!

here the million dollar question!

Brandon or any techy, i did this skin and uploaded it, the star images for ranks, i didnt change them, on my PC they are starts, i uploaded them, and to me, they are still stars, which is how it should be.

BUT for trumpetmaster, they show up as bicycles? anyone know why this would be?

Re: SEO questions on new project!

went to the website and I do see starts....
if it isn't cache then .... will be hard to tell without being on his machine

maybe ask him to lookup link to the stars and see it is the good one or if for some reason it show a link to somewhere else... (hacked computer sometimes get trojans changing links to somewhere else, though long time I heard that one)
