that is a pretty vague question... but:

Yes it is if you'd like to get more results from search engines (most likely the first place someone will find your site)

But from your wording in your post, do you mean vBSEO?
In that case, its a some like it/some don't type of thing. it's done well for my site, but supposedly single-handedly destroyed others, but I'm not sure how it'd do that personally.

I'm all about marketing, but I'm like rocket, some helps some it hurts.....

Ideally, you would want to know which type of sites it's helped v/s hurt.
