You may have seen I have forums for the upcoming game from Valve called Left 4 Dead. I need some assistance from you guys on cornering the market for a keyword or phrase:

left 4 dead and left4dead

I've been looking at Google results as how to judge how I am doing and I've been pretty pleased with the results so far on other keywords.

Here are some examples:

Keyword: 'l4d' Fourth hit after the official site and two youtube videos.

Keyword: 'l4d forums' First and second hit.

Keyword: 'left4dead forums' First and second hit.

The most frequent search terms are most likely to be left 4 dead and left4dead and I'm not ranking on them at all. I want to avoid 'keyword' spamming.

The site is L4D Forums ~~ Don't get Left 4 Dead

Description is: 'The premier unofficial message boards for Valve's Left 4 Dead!!'

Keywords are: 'left 4 dead, l4d forums, l4d, left4dead, valve, Turtle Rock Studios, FPS, mods, maps, discussion'

Any suggestions on how I can improve my ranking?

I would also try and target phrases with pc games, or psp games, xbox games in it also.
I don't know if the game is avalilbe on all consoles or not, but something like.
left 4 dead pc game, or left 4 dead on xbox.. ect..

enter some of them into your meta tags for keywords and into your meta description. You can also try to enchance your meta description some like

"The original Left 4 Dead community forums. Gather with other players of the popular l4d game from Valve. Interact today with other Left 4 dead forum members!"

Keywords:

"Left 4 dead, Left 4 Dead Forums, l4d, l4d forums, left4dead, left4deadforums, xbox360, playstation3, console games, FPS, shooter, L4D wallpaper, left 4 dead release"


After you do this, start creating threads that are keyword rich and build backlinks using your targeted keywords and submitting to directories. You'll also want to finish some SEO work on the pages. I noticed you've still got your standard vBulletin welcome message, and a welcome header image. I'd remove the standard welcome message.

I'd also make use of the relavent replacement feature from vBSEO, and turn off the standard vBulletin option to enable forum descriptions. This will help immensely. These are pretty much things i did to achieve top 10 results in google for alot of keywords and phrases in under a month only using vbSEO and vBulletin without spending a dime on marketing.
