i need to install a SEO script in my forums, But some of my friends has Warned to do so.why?! it's true?!

Are you talking about how they are here or what? If it is like here there should not be any danger except temporary loss of SE rankings.

indeed, if your board has been indexed in the past and you swith url format for seo (via url_rewrite for ex) then the spider will be lost for a period. I'm going true this with my forum... I knew it would happen but I took the decision anyway (radically changing subject so...)
But you can help spiders via sitemaps for Google..
takes less time to get back on level
Any major change will result in temporarely 'downgrading' in ranking.
