Title change?

hey guys, i want to rank well for Delaware Online. it is a highly searched term and my fiercest competitor.....

2 questions:

1.) can i change my title to my site from Talk Delaware to Delaware Online, and like not get in trouble, like they don't own that title right?

2.) will this totally destroy my SEO? my title tag is removed, and has been removed for a while from thread titles and stuff....

help me

I'll let the seo people field the second one, but I know you can't copyright titles. They might not like it much, but...
How about setting your title to Talk Delaware Online?

Does your forum name show on all pages? or just the forumhome like how we have it setup.
If so, then sure, change it and try it out. If your forumname shows on all pages, eg showthread and forumdisplay, I would rather make a new forum or edit one of your subforums over changing all titles.

welp i changed it, i see a email from a certain website in my near future....and a lot of jokes from my members...

Delaware Online is run by The News Journal, people call it the news urinal, it is a rag...

Talk Delaware Forums

to

Talk Delaware Online Forums

turns out you can trademark a name like Delaware Online for your website title and im sure Gannett has done so.

i think after 2 days i already jumped a bit. im on top of the second page now,,,,was in the middle..

well im at the top of the second page for both delawareonline and delaware online now.

earlier today i was #3 for delaware online but i guess the algo corrected itself

ya, I've had a few of those glitches on "topeka kansas" for our blog.. we've had #3 a few times, beating out the newspaper

but it always drops to the 2nd page

thanks valdet, they are pretty decent yes. thing is im shooting for "delaware online" cause that site delawareonline.com si one of, if not the most, heavily trafficked site in all of delaware.
