URL rewrite question

Hi Guys,

Im new here & very new to all this SEO stuff. I currently run a number of vbulletin forums & have recently bought a copy of vBSEO & was wondering if i can get some help with URL rewrite.

now i am running a dedicated server with IIS 6, php 5.2.1 & mysql 5.0.

everything is running sweet apart from if i enable url rewrite for the forums etc.. in the vbseo cp. when i do this the links on my forum do not work & i get a page cant be displayed.

I have installed ISAPI Rewrite3 & added the filter into the website under IIS & I have added the standard iSAPI rewrite commands into the httpd.conf file but this still does not work, i have not selected any presets in the url rewrite but simply turned them on.

am i missing something? do i need to add anything else to the httpd.conf file? or where do i add these custom rules or whatever?

i see this forum uses the url rewrite & i would very much like to use it.

any help would be very much apprecited.

i know i could post on the vbseo forums but it seems alot more friendly here

Re: URL rewrite question

Read the Readme .html file... at the " Installing vBSEO under Other Servers" tab, you'll find the necessary info for IIS installation.

Instead of uploading the .htaccess file, open/edit your httpd.ini file (ISAPI_Rewrite module configuration) and enter the rules defined in the isapi_rewrite.txt file included within the 'htaccess' folder of the installation package (replace "/forums/" with your vBulletin folder name).
I have tried this but am a little confused...

where it says "replace /forums/ with your vbulletin folder name" my vbulletin install is in the root so i take it i just use "/" or shall i actually use the folder name that the forum is located?? its confusing as my install is not in a sub-folder.

I have tried it with / so far & it hasnt worked.

sorry to be a pain, i have quite a bit of experience with vbulletin, i can setup IIS, php, mysql, install the board, install the hacks & styles etc.. but this SEO stuff is completely new to me & i hate to ask noobish questions but it has to be done sometimes

Re: URL rewrite question

Make sure you've uploaded all the VBSEO files into the / folder
Install the Product
Do the httpd.ini file edit

And all should work, if not we'll try to further help you some way

Re: URL rewrite question

Hi,

Sorry but its still not working.

Have followed install instructions exactly but as soon as i enable url rewrite i get page cant be displayed when i click on a forum.

I am using the default isapi_rewrite settings & have just added my domain name into it.

everything else seems to be working ok, install went ok etc.. i dont really know what else to try now, does anyone have any other ideas as to why this isnt working?

i really want to use this feature :

Re: URL rewrite question

What is the URL to your forum?

I also forgot to add, make sure that you added your current key into the box provided and hit save, and that the key shows up green.

Re: URL rewrite question

with 3.1.0 you don't need to add the ioncube to your server
the best bet would be to open a support ticket at vbseo.com
