VBSEO Question

I have installed (twice) vbseo from vbulletin.org and can't seem to get the dang thing working right. On the Sitemap report page it tells me that it is creating sitemaps, but then where it says it puts them does not exist on my server. I found the sitemaps and tried to access them. I found out that the .htaccess file said "deny all". Fixed that, but when I tried to submit the URL on Google Webmasters this is the error I get now: Empty Sitemap
Your Sitemap does not contain any URLs. Please validate and resubmit your Sitemap.
I am not to knowledgeable about this stuff so I am at a loss. Anybody have any ideas or tips to help me?
Tom

Re: VBSEO Question

I assume you mean you've installed the vBSEO Sitemap Generator? You can't download vBSEO from vBulletin.org since it's a premium paid product.

Might want to check vBSEO's forum on it:

Re: VBSEO Question

Well, after thinking about it, I figured out why I got the error message. I gave the URL for the folder that the sitemap was in not the file.......Duh! (Told you I ain't real smart with this stuff!) Turns out I still can't figure it out. Now it says it 404 not found........How can I get this thing to work like it is supposed to and not have to manually add URLs?

I have this one installed: vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator - vBulletin.org Forum It is a free one (yes, I know it is not as good as the premium one). I have asked over there and have not gotten any assistance there.

Re: VBSEO Question

Did you put something in the "Sitemap Files URL" setting in Sitemap Generator options in vB admincp?
Try erasing it and leaving that empty if so.

Re: VBSEO Question

vBSEO and the vBSEO Sitemap Generator are two completely different addons. What was the thread over their that did not get answered? I might have over looked it. What is the exact error it throws at you?

Re: VBSEO Question

Is the sitemap files writeable i.e. have you made the file permissions 777 through ftp?

Re: VBSEO Question

I *think* I figured it out......... I got to looking and re-reading the instructions and the .htaccess file and the index file were in the wrong folder. I moved them and submitted the URL and Google Webmaster Tools hasn't given me any errors on that URL!
Michael Biddle if you click on this link and go all the way to page 64 you will find my post. But don't worry about it (for now!) since things might be working like it should (I hope) Thanks for the assistance, I need it!
