Thumbs up vBSEO Question

If I buy vBSEO, and implement it to my forums. After changing the URL structure, won't it give 404 errors to those pages which are already indexed in Google?

Curious about it because I'm planning on buying vBSEO.

Re: vBSEO Question

Nope, it would redirect your older urls (301 redirection) to the newer ones.

Re: vBSEO Question

^ Yup
And that's why vBSEO is a wonderful piece of software for your vBulletin Forum.
Why the hell vBulletin doesn't come with SEO integrated is beyond me, especially considering the outrageously expensive (but still worth it) price for the owned license... Different subject entirely...

Re: vBSEO Question

Exactly the point I had raised a few times at vBulletin forums. When free open source scripts like wordpress can come with options to rewrite the URLs and also other SEO benefits, I fail to see why vBulletin can’t.

Re: vBSEO Question

And not only that - But if ever you need to request support (purportedly the stellar support that comes when you purchase your $180 vBulletin owned license) if you have vBSEO installed - the 1st thing they will say is the old tired company line "we cannot provide official support for forums running non-vB code." Anyway - we can always hope for the best can't we? And the thing about it - I did a lot of SEO for JPiC Forum in the beginning days and still do a nice round of techniques every-once-in-a-while --- When I installed vBSEO - my pages were getting indexed in Google & Yahoo very quickly... And now - I'm on page 1 of Google & MSN and a lot of other search engines for my top key word "Poetry Forum" --- So it's all good and worth the risk I think.

Good luck with it -- I think you will very much enjoy the vBSEO software
