vBSEO vs vB 4

I hate to start an is it worth it thread but I have a site that's a couple years old and I'm wondering on thoughts for adding vBSEO to it? vB 4 is supposed to have some features though I understand it won't be a vBSEO replacement. DisucssNY has been growing slowly and recently started picking up more members again. I run vBSEO on my email forum and have always been happy with the content to number of visitors. The problem is my New York Forum is completely random in the content. It's all over the place like an off topic forum. It has 6x the content of the email forum and less than 1/2 the visitors. Can vBSEO probably help enough to cover it's cost or better in adsense revenue (more visitors) in the long run or do I just go with the fact that the forum is what it is and keep letting it chug along as it does today.

Re: vBSEO vs vB 4

one detail you have to understand today is that even if you change your SEO engine, google, etc will continue to navigate your site to update these links. if your site have an update of 2 weeks or 2 months, google will update these links only after the delay... that delay is evaluated by google, not your seo engine or your html meta data...

google, yahoo, dmoz and some other engines will crawl your obsolete links (if you change the permalink structure) and will compare with your new links while browsing, and if the link is unreachable or give a 404 error, google will simply delete the reference, and will try to find a concurent if the link is simply modified...

remember that google archive your pages content also, not only the links... so if a page is having a new seo link (permalink), google will compare the first content to switch the new link if possible...

SEO for vb 4.0?... i don't think it would compete vbSEO... but i know for sure that a lot of people will switch to the vb 4.0 seo engine just because it cost less to renew... basic seo is better than none, and you can always have plugins at vb.org that will popup as soon as 4.0 is up, so vbSEO will have competition anyway... coders will add plugins to the 4.0 seo engine.

*(a note about me,.... i'm not a seo specialist, but i'm a google/dmoz meta editor for 12 years... )

Re: vBSEO vs vB 4

Here's a thread on vB.com discussing this, where I've replied a few times: Will vbulletin 4 make vBSEO obsolete ? - vBulletin Community Forum

Some of it is content from vBSEO.com, so it provides some insight as to why vBSEO isn't going to be obsolete.

Personally, I'm not letting vB 4 hinder my plans to purchase vBSEO. I purchased it for AA not too long ago and I don't regret it one bit.

I'll still suggest vbseo to clients, the new seo features in vb4.0 will be better than before, but still no replacement for vbseo.
Remember, vbseo has been solely developing this product for years, vbulletin is only a few months into it as an extension.

Re: vBSEO vs vB 4

the only thing obsolete from vbSEO will be the code... and i know that they already work on a vb 4.0 version, so there will be no long delay for the update.

vb version may be only months old, but if they leeched the code of one of the best SEO engine, they have a leap ahead of vbSEO, because they already had an engine in hand that they just have to enhance to be better than vbSEO in the next year. --- which i suppose they do, as they are now mega big.

better tracking of spiders etc will be a need for vbSEO... my engine is already available, so i suppose the door is open.

Exactly how I look at it. Which is why I need two more copies.
