Need placement advice

So far our site is generating roughly 500 unique visitors monthly according to AwStats.

Our page impressions for the last 7 days are: 684 and 1 lousy click for a CTR of .15% that earned a whopping 4 cents. The ads so far seem to be targeted about 85-90% of the time dealing with automotive related and that last 10-15% about stupid stuff like ring tones >.<

Now i realize the traffic(or lack there of) is part of the issue, but we're working on that being new and all it takes a little bit. But a CTR of .15 is pathetic, and to get a whole 4 cents for it is a waste of time and users monitor space.

Does anyone have any placement suggestions for us, you can view it at Anarchy Car Forums - Powered by vBulletin

Thanks for any advice

try to insert the ads inside th thread, there is a hack allowing so (admanagement I think at vb.org) you can set every x post, after first, after last etc..

also the square versions seems to target better then the banner format.... even Google says so

I'm pretty positive that the ad mgmt mod does that.

The Square will probably get you beter clicks, but it also is much more intrusive on your forum (could be good or bad the way you look at it)

I added square ads to my article threads, they don't look tacky because there's enough content around them.

Ouch, I was checking your site and seen a few of the links ads up, do you use any banner ads or anything like that ?

Use banner ads? I sell them privately if that is what you mean.

Re: Need placement advice

Traffic is definitely your biggest issue. It's very unlikely that you'll be able to generate significant revenue regardless of where you place Adsense.

You could probably do better with direct sales. Maybe you could find one company to be the exclusive sponsor of your site. You might earn enough just to cover your hosting costs while growing your site.
