Reverse Engineer Adsense
A few days ago I found an interesting post over at DP mentioning the importance of high paying keywords and the vitality it has with your adsense earnings.
Thus being like many more webmasters at first never worried nor cared about that high paying keyword mumbo jumbo and went off to build websites based on actual areas, niches if you prefer, that were an actual interest to us. Sites that actually consisted of a bit of fun to maintain and update its content. As a result of continually improving these “fun” to work-on sites these usually ended up scaling places on google and progressively began to receive more and more traffic.
Up to here everything is fine and dandy but what happens when the web traffic begins to surpass our server capacity?? In simpler text this means: what do we do when our sites begin to receive too much traffic that we can’t keep hosting them on those cheap $3.99 hosting accounts we got over at godaddy or other cheap hosting companies?
The next logical step is to begin to look into contracting another hosting service with out going beyond our budget. Usually this would be a good moment to look even a bit further into the future and see if it would be worth considering a dedicated server or can we handle our traffic with a VPS account. Which ever choice is to be made, it has to taken fast as we can’t afford our current sites keep crashing on that $3.99 account.
Now how does all this tie in together? Reverse engineering adsense, build sites around topics we actually like and enjoy, finding the next level in our hosting solutions?
Rather pretty simple, as I mentioned before if you first built your site not worrying about CPC’s you’re probably not making as much as you could be off your websites. I’m not talking about completely changing your sites keywords/niches nor complete revenue model (dumping adsense and signing up with some CPA network) but simply doing a little research and while maintaining your current niche and playing with your keywords a bit your CPC can increase.
So, where to go to experiment with your keywords? It’s rather simple, google https://adwords.google.co.uk/select/...timatorSandbox actually has a tool where you can specify keywords, set targeting, budgeting, language and demographic target that will give you a pretty good estimate on how much money you were to spend daily if you would to set it up as an adWord campaign.
Get the idea? Put a list together that includes your current keywords plus a few other related ones that you would like to research on and google will actually tell you how much people are betting on these keywords. I applied this a few days ago on one of my sites which was averaging $0.40 - $0.50 clicks and a few days later the site began to get $1.00 - $1.20 clicks.
Now with this increment per click on my sites I can afford that new server I was looking into and not have to worry about a thing. Give it a try, play with your keywords, remember to also update your page’s title tag and let me know how it all went.
