Your First Google Adsense Always Displays the Highest Paying Ads

Google has confirmed what many people have thought for a long time. The first adsense (first loading adsense via Source) will always display the highest paying ads. So when you go to layout your first ad you want to make sure it is in a place that will net the most clicks.

The most popular place for a high CTR on a forum is underneath the Navbar.

For guests, I've personally found that removing my navbar ad (on showthread) and only running a 336x280 after the first post in the thread returns a CTR of 3%+ and excellent revenue. Revenue definitely went up when I removed my navbar which was receiving less than 1.5% CTR on showthread.

I am going to give this a try on forums that I don't have images above the leaderboard.

Good idea.

Here is the code to make it happen:

HTML Code:
<if condition="in_array($bbuserinfo[usergroupid], array(1))"> <if condition="!$GLOBALS['FIRSTPOSTID']"> <div style="padding-top: 5px;"></div> <table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%"> <tr> <td class="thead" colspan="2">Advertisement
</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="alt2" valign="top" width="175"> <span class="bigusername">Google</span><br /> <span class="smallfont">Ads by Google</span><br /> <img src="http://www.conflictingviews.com/images/misc/1.jpg" alt="" /> </td> <td class="alt1">
Ad Code Here
</td> </tr> </table> </if> </if>

I have made this adjustment on all of my sites. I hope the CTR increases or stays the same as I think this looks much better (especially since I had images above my other ads, this added alot of space back to my forum so the first post is higher up above the fold now)

Hello....

Hey everyone. The name is Chris. I am looking at using the Recipe Mod. I am trying the one from vBulletin.org. Looks like a really cool hack. Anyways I just wanted to stop by and say hey.

Oh has anyone tried this one vBulletin 3.6.8?

On your hack on vb.org it says 9 queries. Does the hack run 9 queries every time a post is made in the recipe area or is it just 9 queries during setup?

Re: Hello....

Well it adds 9 fields to save the extra data, it has too add those, but is not even noticeable.

As for 3.6.8, I believe it should work on that version, their were no major changes to it. We are running 2.2 Currently here, as this is the "Pro" version. It is $10 usd.

I havent updated the old vBulletin.org Forum - The Official vBulletin Resource! one in a long while, due to the fact I have been developing this new system recently.

Re: Hello....

So what is the biggest difference between the one on .org and the new one? As far as what is better about the PRO?

Thanks for answering the questions to.

Re: Hello....

Well the biggest noticeable change is the attachments.

The system was completely reworked. It has been moved from showthread to postbit, to have all the same functionality as a normal post would. Tons of security fixes, optimizations, features. If you click on a users profile scroll down, and you can see a list of all recipes made, also if you look at the postbit, if the user has posted a Recipe, it will have a recipe count, which will link it to your profile also. Small changes here and their. 2.1 was just released, and I am working on 2.2 (Running Here). In 2.2 BBCode is supported in the Description Section, but not sure if I want to enable it anywhere else, of coarse customers can let me know if they want it in any other places. It also now is supported by TMS so it has virtually no edits what-so-ever if you have TMS installed already.

If you have any other requests, just shoot it through here: www.vbulletinzone.com/f9/
