I think that I'll be adding it to my site soon Edited: Just edited the post where it originally showed in my sig and it disappeared. Edited: When I added the last edit within this message, it shows now.

| Re: Add your twitter status updates in your signature I just did a post in ping.fm ... which feeds into my Twitter ... which feeds into my Facebook....but, it shows that I did it 36 minutes ago. Strange as I did it 1 minute ago. Edited: And, it only shows once within the same thread from what it seems. |

and what's the big deal with twitter anyway? | no, you don't have to be logged in to see them. Just like you can see my status even if not logged in. Twitter / vBSetup
and just do a search for your hometown, or closest city if your isn't that big, and see how many ppl in your city are on twitter. Especially for use with local forums, it can be very successful. Twitter Search |

| Re: Add your twitter status updates in your signature My browser is taking about 6 seconds to get past each signature if it has the twitter parts in it.
You see the Follow me on twitter text at the right but not the latest post, then after about 6 seconds it appears and goes on to show the rest of the thread. But if someone else in the thread has it in their signature, it will hang again.
Using Firefox 3.0.6 |

| Re: Add your twitter status updates in your signature Any update on this? I was kind of curious about it, I see everyone still has the code in their signatures. Though, I was thinking it would probably work better using something like magpie. Or like the rss is working, but I would be curious to know about it. I noticed tons of people are now using twitter, it could be useful. |

| Re: Add your twitter status updates in your signature Well, I only ask because someone was asking if I could help them pull this off. And I was looking and I came across this plugin for wordpress. WordPress › SimpleTwitter WordPress Plugins
I think it probably be adapted to work with vbulletin, maybe a custom profile field, then adding that field to signatures. It uses curl. But I dont know much about vbulletin plugins, so if anyone knows, maybe we could figure something out. Though, I was thinking doesnt twitter have RSS feeds? If so it would be even easier to get updates and place them where you want
**UPDATE***
If you check it out, I know have my twitter updates in the same place as where my RSS feed would be. So, brandon if you wanted, you could really just use the same plugin I guess. Maybe make another custom profile field and then add that into the signature.
But I thought it was easier that I was trying to do. I guess I was looking at it wrong.

| Re: Add your twitter status updates in your signature No. It doesn't slow it down at all. I guess when I get a chance I can make an example. I am about to head out for the night, but I am already doing it on your site right now. Check out the image.
Though, let me attempt to explain better.
First, you install, this mod.. Display latest blog post in postbit using Magpie RSS - Page 3 - vBulletin.org Forum, which you already have installed.
Then, make a new custom user profile field same as you have already done.
Then, where it says this in the mod.
Open the attached magpierss.xml file in your favorite text editor and modify the paths for the MAGPIE_DIR and MAGPIE_CACHE_DIR variables to match your server's directory structure. You can adjust the value for the MAGPIE_CACHE_AGE if you like. It's set to update the cache every 4 hours by default. Last, update the field5 to your field # in two places in the postbit_display_start section. Save the file.
You just edit to support multiple fields. There is no need for a separate mod.
Here is the code that needs editing. I am going to take a crack at it when I get back. But shouldn't be too hard to include support for multiple fields.Maybe an OR statement. And just stick the code that calls it in signatures. Should work fine.
<plugin active="1" executionorder="5">

Magpierss_Get_Blog

<hookname>postbit_display_start</hookname>
<phpcode>error_reporting(0);
if ($post['field5']){
$num_items = 1;
$rss = fetch_rss($post['field5']);
if($rss) {
$items = array_slice($rss->items, 0, $num_items);
$blogTitle = htmlspecialchars_uni( $items[0]['title']);
$blogLink = htmlspecialchars_uni( $items[0]['link']);
}
}
//reset error reporting
error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE);</phpcode>
</plugin> |

| Re: Add your twitter status updates in your signature Really, you can use any rss mod you want Arny. I just picked that one because I thought that was the one Brandon has installed. But, it has a cache, so that is one of the main reasons I picked it. But, as long as your pulling the RSS feed, it shouldn't slow anything down. |

| Re: Add your twitter status updates in your signature Cool Cerberus....have you come up with the edited code to call the signatures and do the "or" statement, etc?
Just wondering because this would be a cool feature to add. |

| Re: Add your twitter status updates in your signature I am still looking at which one will work the best. They have a couple rss mods, but I am leaning to magpie one. Though, if you are not going to need multiple RSS feeds, like blog and twitter, you could use it as is. You dont need to alter it at all. I was just speaking in terms of how Brandon has it. |
