Point Values:
Article Points: 500 (1st), 300 (2nd), 200 (3rd)
Points assigned for each counted post: 5
Points assigned for each thread posted to: 3
Points assigned for each forum posted to: 3
Points assigned for starting a Thread 7
Points assigned for Referrals: 50 (the person referred must make at least 5 post)

Rules:
All but the general forums, and the intro forums will be counted for points.
You must be in the vBulletin group or above to be eligible for this contest.
Post must be at least 50 characters long to be counted, no spamming or intentionally lonnnnnng post.
The Staff will review all article submissions and then choose our winners for the article section. Note that you can still win even if you do not have the best article.

It means what Brandon decides are the 3 best articles written by you guys (and us mods too)

So if you had the what we thought was the best article, you'd get the 500 points

Should the article be only related to "Community success stories"

Can it be some Programming article, say a nice tutorial for building up some kind of system/application ??

We're trying to focus this on Success Stories, but if programming is a huge part of your success I'm sure you could fit it in there somewhere

That does give us a nice idea for another article contest at a later date though.

also I think if "Success Stories" is the main focus then this contest is limited to very few people coz majority of users here are new to being forum admins and have forums not even an year old. Not all have/can have 2 million posts with 1000 users online. I hope this is what you mean by a success story.

Why not make it a "Best Article/Tutorial" submission contest instead that majority would like and find useful. It can be any topic whether success story, seo tips, graphics creation, programming, etc. Then you/your staff/polls can chose/vote for the best out of them.

To me, a success story is subjective.

A "success" could be just getting the darn forum opened!

So, work at it and come up with something....I'm sure that you'll do just fine.

Yes Arny is right.

It doesn't have to be that you've got a 10,000 unique/day forum or that you're making 100 dollars a day with it. It can be any small or large success really. My forum only has around 750 members, but I consider it a success already

I'll let Brandon know about making it more broad article as long as it fits within vBulletin forums and see what he thinks.

As far as the articles go, you could win and not even submit an article, it's just a good way to get a chunk of points

ya, since it's a 3 month contest, it will be a few weeks before we post the leaders.
but generally, we'll post updates every week, or every other week since it's 3 months long.
