I need help moving hosts!

Ok i think ive decided im going to move host. I need to know a few things first before i cancel... will my forum and site be exactly the same if i move it?

Im contacting my host about the domain, but how will i be able to swtich hosting with nothing changing?

Ive never switched hosting in my life so im totally new, all i want is to switch to a new hosting and get my whole site over (site and forum) with no complications and nothing going.

Thanks in advance

Especially if they both have cpanel access. Ask your new host if they will move the site for you. Like Brandon said most host will help you.

indeed if you're on cpanel it can be just a matter of minutes if both play the game fairly. Some hosts close the door for remote account moving.

Just one restriction while moving, have fairly similar setups (ex one with suexec and the other not), sometimes transfers won't fully work due to this and server admin needs to help you a little to change things in your setup.

In any case, take a full BU of the account in your cpanel and dl it to your computer, in worst case the new server admin can use that to restore your account with everything included, since this BU is generated with db, pages, mail etc. Very handy.
If you have low bw (56k) this BU is generated on top level of your account, just move it somewhere in public_html and forward the link to the new server admin, he can then easily wget it to his server.
And always have a BU before doing anything. It can always go wrong... better have it

Good luck with the move and be prepared to have a few issues, I did so many in my live and there is awlays something (often cosmetic things)
