Re: Just had to upgrade to VPS

We had to switch over to a vps once the other sites on the network would bring my sites down. Shared hosting is okay to start off with, but a dedicated box or vps is the way to go for complete control and not having to worry about the "other sites" on the box.

That's the main reason I am planning to shift, though my host hasn't given me the boot yet

Re: Just had to upgrade to VPS

wow this sucks, I just wasted a whole weekend for a crappy VPS.

Like ASmallOrange = excellent shared hosts, their VPS service is compelte and utter garbage and I'm hoping I can manage a refund.

This wouldn't be my first rodeo with their VPS either, it was always shaky at best from the day the launched it, I figured 3 years later they'd have a grasp on it. Guess not.

Off to PowerVPS i go

You could always check out one of the hosting banner ads in the sidebar

..

but I do strongly support Fluid Hosting: FreeBSD and Windows Hosting
they have been great for me

Re: Just had to upgrade to VPS

they're decent for vBulletin as long as you get their largest plan or reseller plan they won't say much about resources until you start to use a good amount

Re: Just had to upgrade to VPS

Finally received the delivery of my VPS yesterday, 384MB RAM, 10GB HDD space, 200GB Bandwidth and CPanel, all optimized and fully managed by knownhost. Damage, US$ 42.50 a month with two months on 50% off.

Ran the first top command through SSH and got this:

Mem: 393216k total, 64584k used, 328632k free, 0k buffers

Looks pretty decent to me for a Cpanel VPS, what you guys think?

Will shift all my sites on it this weekend.
