Somebody save me!!

I'm just sooo baffled at the moment and really need advice as I'm quiet the newbie.

I have a forum which is on a shared host but we've always had problems with emails not working and now pages need to reloaded everytime a post is submitted.

We have 131 members and 9856 posts. We also have an arcade with about 395 games, a gallery (not many photos yet) and a good few add-ons/hacks. So I don't know what kind of new host I'd need... another shared one or VPS one???

Also I wouldn't have a clue how to even go about moving my forum from one host to another so I'd probably need someone to do that but where would I find them and how much would that be.

I'd be grateful is a knight on shining armour would just sweep in and rescue the whole thing for me telling me what was needed and if they could help me do it.... plleeeeease

my site is

Just Us Parents

thanks a million
Kel.

Can you post up your bandwidth usage and stats?

I've got 2 similar sized forums both running off one shared host and they're doing alright. You can always look around for other Shared Hosts, VPS is expensive for such a small forum right now but if you'd rather do that you can.

I'd say from what you're talkign about to just look for a better shared host for now, and if the time arises later then to switch to a VPS then.

Shared hosting can be a good thing for a small forum, but that usually turns bad as the forum grows. Most hosts are not setup for vBulletin to begin with and when they run several of them, servers sweat.

The best thing to do would be to regroup and find out what resources you are depleting and why. Then when and if you move, you know what you need and don't move into the same situation.

Every host out there will say they are the best and they can handle vBulletin. But too often it's just some guy with a reseller account and not actually a "host".

thank you too for your speedy reply.

my site is only a young baby, 3 months old and I'd like to add to it as time goes on and hopefully get more members (which is another problem) so with the information I've provided (or if you need to know more, what do you suggest I do, and what hosts would you recommend.... if you don't mind, thanks.

Many of the things I would want to look at can be found on phpinfo available from your ACP maintenance menu and cpanel logs.

But shell access would be better.

I think the forum should be fine and not even burp and that the server configuration is poor or over sold.

In my conversations with Hostgator.com, they will walk you through the process to switch servers for your forum with limited downtime (if any). You may want to check out their services, and talk to the live people over there. Or maybe purchase Brandon's vbulletin services (link on homepage), as I'm sure he's proficient at server moves.

Here's the link to his services page. I'm sure he can handle a forum transfer and offer his recommendations in terms of a new host.

Thank you Luigi, I already found it and just finished sending him a pm telling him you where good enough to point me in his direction.

I hope that he can help me, as at the moment I'm totally stuck and as my site is for Moms at home, none of them can help me either... diaper changing no problem but web sites....mmmm nope LOL.
